War Service Chevron

Established in 1917 for in-country and in-waters theater service to distinguish the wearer as a combat veteran having served in harm's way. Authorized to all U.S. and Allied military personnel. One War Service Stripe is authorized for each six-month war theater service or fraction thereof after the first 6-month service period. The War Service Chevron is worn on the lower left sleeve.
