Awarded For Service During the Crises Period 2 August 1964 To 7 August 1964.
Under believed large-scale attack by Enemy forces the Congress of the United States approved a National Security Alert resulting in defensive Military operations that although limited to the high seas in the Pacific affected all United States and Allied Forces globally with the justified concern that Nations hostile to the United States or its allies might use the situation to orchestrate or initiate offense operations deemed highly injurious. The resulting global alert placed on the combined Military Forces of the United States and it Allies, and their rapid and professional response to discourage hostile or offensive acts proved successful in restricting actual combat to a manageable region in the Pacific . The Cold War Medal applies.
