Rating Established 1943 and re-established 1972. The Radarman / Operations Specialist is the vessel's primary eyes. As 'point man' for the vessel the Radarman/OS is tasked with detecting objects far in advance of their potential harm to the vessel and alerting the vessel's command staff. Individuals with high intelligence, moral character and an incorruptible instinct for duty and responsibility are trusted with this military profession.
