This Display Recognition is available ONLY to authorized recipients who possess orders, or authorization form, or release documentation that confirms award eligibility. (See "Issue Requirements"). To obtain either a Display Medal or a Display Recognition for your authorized award you will be required to provide military-issued documentation authorizing your award. There are no exceptions. Cutterman Insignia 6.C.2.a. Eligibility Requirements
Eligibility requirements for the officer and enlisted Cutterman Insignia are contained in the Cutter Training and Qualification Manual, COMDTINST M3502.4 (series). Entitlement to wear the Insignia will now represent an individual's desire to pursue a seagoing career, and is based on the successful completion of specific Personnel Qualification Standards (PQS), or unit job Qualification Requirements (JQR) where no fleet PQS exists.
6.C.2.b. Temporary Entitlement
Personnel permanently assigned sea duty may wear the Insignia, while so assigned, upon completion of at least six months continuous satisfactory service aboard such cutter and having been certified by their commanding officer. Personnel previously certified may wear the Insignia when reporting aboard for a subsequent tour of sea duty. Upon completion of each tour afloat, the Insignia shall be removed from the uniform except when cumulative total of sea duty exceeds five years.
6.C.2.c. Permanent Entitlement
Multiple assignments at sea, totaling not less than five years of sea service, must be completed before an individual is eligible to wear the Cutterman Insignia.
6.C.2.d. Manner of Wear
The manner of wearing the Cutterman Insignia shall be in accordance with the Uniform Regulations, COMDTINST M1020.6 (series) [See excerpt, below].

3.E.3. Service and Identification Badges Service and identification badges provide recognition of personnel serving on special assignment. Only two special service or identification badges may be worn at one time. Full-size badges are worn on the Full Dress and Service Dress Uniforms. Miniature badges are worn on the Formal Dress, all Dinner Dress, Tropical Blue and Winter Dress uniforms. Incumbent Gold and Silver Badge Command Chiefs are authorized to wear their one current Command Chief badge on the ODU. No other badges (current or past) are worn on the ODU. The wearing of other service and identification badges not specifically listed in these regulations is authorized only during assignment to an organization requiring the wearing of such badges.
