Awarded For In-theatre service during the Operation Period. Operation Sea Dragon was instituted to discourage and reduce the illegal transportation, by water, of enemy personnel and munitions from North Vietnam to the South. Interception and destruction of water borne logistic craft (WBLC), which ranged in size from large self propelled barges down to small junks and sampans proved to render impossible early enemy conquest of large northern portions of the Republic of Vietnam.
