Awarded for In-theatre service during the Operation Period.

Annoying hit and run attacks by PAVN forces harassing South Vietnamese army units in the Binh Long and Phuoc Long Provinces required United States military assistance to initiate a series of counterstrikes to rid the region of enemy combatants. American losses in this highly successful Battle totaled less than one-fourth of enemy casualties. After the Battle South Vietnamese forces were able to maintain security for an extended period.
